Istiak Jaman is a Ph.D. Candidate in Computer Science at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Barishal in Bangladesh. His research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), with a specialization in user interface design within Virtual Reality (VR) and other immersive 3D environments.

Istiak is particularly interested in designing interactive systems that enhance user experience, accessibility, and cognitive engagement. His work explores the integration of multimodal sensing technologies, such as eye tracking, EEG, and physiological signals, to inform the design of adaptive and inclusive user interfaces. One of his key research contributions includes developing VR-based experimental platforms to assess empathy and emotional responses during social and communicative tasks.

Broadly, his research aims to bridge human factors and immersive technology, enabling intuitive, context-aware interaction paradigms for both general users and individuals with varying sensory or motor abilities.

Research Areas:
Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Virtual Reality (VR), 3D User Interfaces Design, Emotion and Empathy in VR, Cognitive Load, Multimodal Interaction, Accessibility in Immersive Environments.
