Adil Khokhar

Adil Khokhar is a Ph.D candidate at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. From Norway, to Canada, and on to the US, his journeys have brought him to ULL where he got his M.S in Computer Science in 2019. He aims to explore the intersection between Virtual Reality (VR) and Artifical Intelligence (AI), and discover how we can use multimodal data that VR and AI technologies offer to bring empathy to educational VR experiences in the metaverse.

His current research is on attention sensing and recognition in educational VR environments, and how we can use machine learning to predict students’ attention levels, so that an instructor or a pedagogical agent can respond appropriately. His goal is to create a virtual coach, like an AI friend or AI VTuber, who understands you and offers you support when you need it in order to improve your learning experience. To that end his main research interests include virtual reality, artificial intelligence, machine learning, affective computing, and video game design.
